Title

[edit]

Title Misspelled. Should read Young Presidents' Organization.

I had noticed that too and have now corrected it. Wikipikiliki 23:07, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

tagging

[edit]

Sorry, Adolphus. I didn't mean to offend by taking out the advert and wikify notices. I'm not a member of YPO and just found it as I was trying to flesh out the EO entry a bit. I then tried to add more information to the YPO entry as well, but I certainly didn't mean for it to sound like advertising. Sjledet 03:01, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

no worries... I noticed you were new... just please be more careful... also, I would recommend reading the 'Welcome' message I left on your user talk page... feel free to Be Bold! and edit any page, but please don't remove tags unless the issue has been resolved, or at least discussed on the talk page... you can click on the links on any tag for information, and recommendations as to how to fix that specific issue... have fun, and happy editing... - Adolphus79 03:09, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikified as part of the Wikification wikiproject! Advert tag may or may not still be appropriate, it doesn't seem to read as an advertisement to me. I left the tag anyway. JubalHarshaw 16:07, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously an advert. No one has heard of this organization. It has no accomplishments. The merger implies that it failed to stand on its own. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.71.1.218 (talk) 22:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have:

  • deleted puffery and unencyclopedic content
  • rm content that seeks to improve notability through association
  • rm unreliable sources
  • condensed remaining content
  • deleted content which compromises NPOV
  • removed duplicated references using refname

Please do not add unsources, POV or conflicted information to this article. Cheers Flat Out let's discuss it 01:21, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article seems plenty adequately sourced to me, and doesn't have what I would call an "unclear citation style." I don't see any other issues with it either, apart from it being a little thin on content. Therefore, I am removing the "multiple issues" tag. If someone thinks there are still problems, I hope they will explain what the issues are. Dunncon13 (talk) 20:38, 2 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Update request for number of members

[edit]

The lead says YPO has "approximately 27,000 members in more than 130 countries, according to the organization's 2016 YPO International Fact Sheet". The figure is correct, but the year is not. YPO has approximately 27,000 members in more than 130 countries, according to the organization's 2019 YPO International Fact Sheet (Source: [https://www.ypo.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/FY1819-YPO_Fact Sheet_Global_Final.pdf 2019 YPO International Fact Sheet]. If a third-party source is needed: [http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20190511/ex-city-resi dent-picked-as-chairman Fort Wayne Journal Gazette].) Membership also needs an update in the "[[Young Presidents' Organization#Demographics|Demographics]]" section. Citation formatting follows:

  1. <ref name=Fact-Sheet>{{cite web |url=https://www.ypo.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/FY1819-YPO_ FactSheet_Global_Final.pdf |title=2019 YPO International Fact Sheet |publisher=YPO |access-date=June 24, 2019}}
  2. <ref name=Journal-Gazette>{{cite news |last=Slater |first=Sherry |date=May 11, 2019 |title=City native picked as chairman |url=http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/20190511/ex-city- resident-picked-as-chairman |work=[[The Journal Gazette]] |access-date=June 24, 2019 }}

  Edit request implemented

  • The source reference provided with the proposed edit request is a non-functioning URL. Although a second source citation was provided, that source is ostensibly informed by the organization itself, which would be to the non-functioning URL previously mentioned. The date and number of members was changed in the article; however, an {{Additional citation needed}} inline template was appended.

plus Additional changes made:

  1. Those references which contained non-functioning URLs were given {{dead link}} inline templates.
  2. The {{citations broken}} maintenance template was appended to the article.
  3. Two sources were changed to {{cite av media}} because they are video files. The time index for both videos is missing, thus a {{time needed}} inline template was appended.
  4. Two sources which were op-ed opinion pieces were removed from the article. The claims they referenced were given {{citation needed}} inline templates.
  5. {{OCLC}} identifier information was added to the Pat McNees publication.
  6. Information on membership costs and other such price information was omitted, per WP:NOTACATALOG.
  7. A {{when}} inline template was affixed to the mention of the first meeting, which is missing the date.
  8. The claim regarding Robert Wood Johnson III was given a Wikilink. This should be double checked, as there are multiple Johnsons affiliated with that company (as its name suggests). The most likely Johnson was chosen for the Wikilink.

Update request for title of Notable Members section

[edit]

The fourth section of the page is called "Notable members" but that is inaccurate and could be misleading. While some of those names are current members, some are past members. The section would be more accurately called "Former and notable members".

Request for infobox

[edit]

For clarity about the YPO organization, can we add an infobox to this page? I would be happy to create the infobox, according to Wikipedia's template, but want to ensure I'm not going against any conflict of interest rules.

With that, my disclosure: I work for YPO. With respect to Wikipedia's Terms of Use and conflict of interest rules, I created a disclosed account to submit possible changes to this page. I will not look to add promotional content. I will seek edits to update the outdated article with relevant information. If editors have questions about any of the content I request, let's chat.
