Origin of the neame[edit]

The article states: Hendre is Welsh for 'old town' and comes from the village of Hendre in Flintshire, North East Wales.

Tre(f) is indeed the Welsh word for town, but the word -tre also means farmstead (like the '-tun/-ton' in English). In Welsh Hendre is traditionaly the winter residence of a farmer (and his flock) and Hafod is where they reside in the summer.
