Merge Maejapgwa into this article?[edit]

Hi! I noticed that this article, Maejapgwa, seems to have very little content of its own which is not in this article, except for a picture, pronunciation, and a few ingredients. In addition, this article states how to make Maejapgwa, which the Maejapgwa article itself does not. Should Maejapgwa be merged into this article? Thanks! Alternatively, perhaps the recipe would belong better in the Maejapgwa article. Noah Kastin (talk) 02:56, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
A problem with merging any part of these two articles is that their ingredient lists conflict. This article states that maejapgwa contains:
  • Wheat flour
  • Honey
  • Ginger juice
  • Water
  • Pine nuts
The Maejapgwa article states that maejapgwa contains:
  • Wheat flour
  • Vegetable oil
  • Cinnamon
  • Ginger juice
  • Jocheong
  • Pine nuts
Both articles state that maejapgwa contains:
  • Wheat flour
  • Ginger juice
  • Pine nuts
However, the other ingredients are not the same in the two articles.
If someone knows what ingredients maejapgwa actually does contain, then the merge, information transfer, or continuation of the current state of both articles can be decided. Until then, the ingredients conflict may make such efforts difficult.
Thanks!

@Noah Kastin: Hi! I revised the Maejapgwa article and thought I should let you know. The recipe is from this article mentioning how the head house of Yecheon Kwon clan has been making it. The pine nuts used are likely to be the seeds of Korean pine, and the honey-substitute jocheong (crafted honey) here is more likely to be mullyeot (liquid yeot, often translated into rice syrup), rather than corn syrup. --Brett (talk) 00:08, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know, Brett Cox! Also thank you for your revision to Maejapgwa, as it added useful information and citations (which the article previously lacked).
By the way, do you think that Maejapgwa should be merged into this article? Although Maejapgwa does now have a lot more information than it did when I initially suggested the merge, the two articles still do have a large overlap. Though merging might not be necessary, it still probably could be done by moving the Maejapgwa article into a paragraph or section of this article, albeit with a few tweaks (such as moving IPA pronunciation out of the infobox and into the relevant paragraph or section).
Thanks again for the notification and article improvements!

Closing now-stale merge proposal; there were significant improvements to the Maejap-gwa article and then no subsequent consensus for further action. Klbrain (talk) 21:39, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
