Hi, Temple of the Mousy. My initial thought is that it might be premature for GA but then I realized it is only because the subject is so young. I believe we can get this to GA and I hope you stick with it as his career progress.

Criteria and notes:

Well-written

  • "Watanabe was born on October 13, 1994, in Miki, Kagawa, in Japan." (Comas bolded. This is something I typically don't do when I write but was told it was necessary when years ago while working on an article)
  • "in his final two years in(with or at might read better) the program"
  • I believe some larger changes to the sections might make the article better. I am not sure of the first but the College section is too short as is.
    • A good chunk of the 2nd paragraph from his high school years could be moved into the collegiate section.
    • The early life and personal life are sections that for now could be duplicate information. An example is shown here. The early life and personal sections should definitely be merged for now.
    • The lead needs a little bit of expansion to work as a standalone summary. It is close but a few more lines (consider at least two paragraphs in total) would be ideal.
    • Here is an example:[1]

Broad in its coverage:

  • "a ticket to the National Prep Championship game. As a result, he was named to the National Prep School Invitational All-Tournament Team and garnered prestigious NEPSAC Class AAA First Team All-League honors." If possible, I would like to see this expanded. It has two issues: 1)High school sports are an alphabet soup and some explanation of the acronyms is needed. 2) This was a big deal for the subject. How did he do in the championship game? Did he play in a tournament? Did he receive any other accolades from the press, his coaches, or the league? Expanding on paragraphs like this will easily catapult this to GA.
  • As mentioned above , the College section is too short
  • "Playing style" is a common section for athletes. It may be hard to create one for the subject since he is young but there is a quote: "Suzuki said, "Watanabe is 201 cm but can play like a guard." Can you expand on that? Readers not familiar with the game will not understand the relationship between height and the Guard position.

Neutral:

  • It might be useful to expand on this thought: "It's good for Nabe-chan (Watanabe) to play at a competitive team, but he's going to have to battle for playing time."

Stable: good

Illustrated

  • There is not enough text to support the second image of his sister.

Verifiable

  • The sources do not have authors or publication dates when needed.

You really kicked its ass. Can you address some formatting in the references? "JapanTimes.co.jp." can typically be The Japan Times while ESPN and FIBA are publishers that don't need to be italicized. I use the "prove it" plug int but you can go off anything that is easy for you. Get that fixed and it meets GA. (receiving contradictory information so disregard)
Besides the above, I don't think it is necessary to show all three of those athletes. I doesn't hurt and is interesting, though.Cptnono (talk) 07:06, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Promoted. Nice work.Cptnono (talk) 21:14, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
