Re: Start-up of this article +[edit]

As of the initiation of this Wikipedia article, on Feb. 18, there were 20 references to Kouwe, most apparently citing articles he wrote or co-wrote at the Times and not including the above-referenced Madoff article. Those twenty references would best be linked to this article, at least. More background on the individual would also well be sought for this article, it seems, but this start, including this discussion entry, seem a necessary and appropriate first step in the meantime.

Dealbreaker firing[edit]

I have returned the text regarding the Dealbreaker.com firing to this article, which has been removed on more than one occasion by User:Ny0043. I believe that it is verified by multiple reliable sources, and is also important for an encyclopedia article on the subject. Its interest as a piece of reading is also valuable, as it tells the tale of a former journalist who, in the face of escalating consequences, continued behavior that would eventually have him leave the journalistic community. The argument has been made that the Bess Levin quote is not reliable as it was published on a blog. However, the blog is published by Reuters, which is a de facto reliable source. In fact, this very article goes to show how if a blog is published under the umbrella of a larger news organization (i.e. DealBook via The New York Times), the fact-checking and oversight is consistent, although sometimes done in hindsight. However, over one year following the incident, there have been no retractions published regarding the Dealbreaker firing. I have noticed an ongoing campaign by User:Ny0043 to tailor this piece in a positive tone towards Kouwe. It leads me to conclude that this user may have a conflict of interest when it comes to the subject. In the face of multiple reliable sources, I would like to know the specific reasons for the constant removal of well-cited information, and to build consensus towards the building of a neutrally-written encyclopedia article of the subject.
