Blasfemuloj

[edit]

I have never seen or heard the word, blasfemuloj, being used to describe those who don't celebrate Zamenhof Day, and there's no citation either. Considering it means "persons of blasphemy", I'd say that it's fairly derogative and might not be necessary in the article. (ChrisMP1 20:44, 5 September 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Why referrred to on the front page

[edit]

An article with no references makes the front page of wiki? Please explain. Kidshare (talk) 22:49, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, this looks pretty embarrassing for Wikipedia. Can any Esperanto speakers reading this please provide some sources for this article? Terraxos (talk) 23:01, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stub?

[edit]

I don't think this qualifies as a stub anymore; if nobody objects in a few days I'll remove the stub tag. However, it does need more cites. I'm not sure offhand where to find them. --Jim Henry (talk) 08:58, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Julian calendar

[edit]

Since the birth record is in Russian, I assume that 15th December is a Julian calendar date. Which is it in the Gregorian calendar? --Error (talk) 01:34, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, the Julian date is the 3rd. It has already been converted. Eb.eric (talk) 16:03, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The date

[edit]

I would like to see consensus about the date of Zamenhof's birthday and about the date of Zamenhof day. -- Evertype· 21:43, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

July 26 as Esperanto Day

[edit]

According to this source, July 26 is Esperanto Day. Thoughts? Michipedian (talk) 04:09, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Michipedian: I think you're right. Other sources that put in on July 26:
Meanwhile, sources that put it on December 15 (that aren't just copies of this article):

@Howcheng: It appears as though there are two Esperanto Days, with two distinct foundational meanings. July 26, I believe, is the "true" Esperanto Day, since it is the traditional mark of the beginning of the Esperanto language and movement. December 15, I believe, is more accurately called "Zamenhof Day". It is the birthdate of the mind who would create Esperanto and formalize it on July 26. Will you please search for "Zamenhof Day" and see what appears? If enough results return, I then think it's likely fair to consider July 26 to be Esperanto Day and December 15 to be Zamenhof Day, which also sometimes happens to be called "Esperanto Day", albeit perhaps erroneously. Michipedian (talk) 18:40, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Michipedian: Considering that the Universal Esperanto Association says that July 26 is Esperanto Day, I think that's authoritative enough. I edited this one and created a new Esperanto Day article. howcheng {chat} 18:43, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
