The Sydney problem[edit]

Does anybody know exactly what his problem was with staff and management in the SSO? JackofOz 12:50, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Six years on, we have an answer - Los Angeles Times, 31 December 1988. -- ♬ Jack of Oz[your turn] 22:42, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
But for a more balanced perspective, see Los Angeles Times, 30 July 1986, Conductor Makes Sudden Australian Departure. He got everything he asked for including early termination of his contract from the end of Year 1, but still left the ABC in the lurch, in the middle of the first season, without explaining why he was going, and without even giving the ABC the courtesy of telling them that he was going. They had to scrabble around and find a replacement conductor pronto. This account is very much at odds with his one above, which is all about him NOT getting what he asked for. I suppose the truth is somewhere in the middle, but thank God we're not too concerned with truth here. -- ♬ Jack of Oz[your turn] 23:32, 26 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nodame Cantabile[edit]

I added a mention of his appearance on the show. I for one was really excited to learn that he was really a conductor. :) Grianne

I've added a mention of him returning to the role of Sebastiano Vieira in the 2008 specials. (Anon user, NC fan) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.49.18.88 (talk) 22:47, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted sentences from article[edit]

I have deleted the following two sentences from this entry that make little sense in context, and have instead moved them here, as the two sentences seem to be in the nature of a discussion between two contributors. To wit:

  • In 1977, Mácal made his own orchestral arrangement of Modest Mussorgsky's piano suite Pictures at an Exhibition. Note to Edward Johnson - "I have never written a note or orchestration of my own"—Zdenek Mácal 20 April 1996. Incorrectly listed in John Holmes's "Conductors on Record."
