Article Draft Feedback

[edit]

Some revisions needed.

  • Lots of great information here!
  • Fix formatting of Ref #1
  • Condense references – all references to the same source can point to the same reference number. The same ref shouldn’t be repeated multiple times in the ref list.
  • Always include release year in parentheses the first time a film title is mentioned.
  • Fix grammatical and spelling mistakes and make sure capitalization is consistent. Ideally ask a friend to copyedit the draft.

Lots of interesting information and it is cool how you can you use non-english reference material. I made some editing changes to the Early career section just to make it more clear and cohesive and added a citation for some information. As long as you review some of the paragraphs and sentence structure it should be a really good and informative article! Mossadeghx (talk) 23:18, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'll apologize for sounding a bit ignorant because I'm not familiar with Chinese geography. Is Beijing in Inner Mongolia? The article says she's born and raised in Inner Mongolia and then says she's raised in Beijing. I'll assume they're not since you say she's born in Inner Mongolia & she moved to Beijing but it would be worth clarifying. In the early career section, did you mean to say she joined the Shanghai Film Studio in 1974? If not, maybe you could move the sentence where you say she worked on The Second Spring and Chunmiao to become the first sentence so its in chronological order? Not sure how necessary it is but if you could find the reason why she didn't finish the Playing for Thrills film it would add to the article. Saying that in the 1990s she made her most important films may be a bit subjective unless there's a clear reason as to why they would be her most important films or perhaps there's someone with credibility worth quoting saying that. A section for her death, even if short, could be worthwhile to separate it from the 1990s section. Lastly, it'd be interesting to see if we could learn more about her realist aesthetics and possibly get a snippet of the movies she worked on.
