I tried to add a balanced perspective to this
[edit]But it was deleted and reverted back to the old, less balanced perspective. I think the article was more informative after my changes. What exactly was the problem? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.228.109.209 (talk) 21:55, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Contesting speedy deletion
[edit]I believe this wikipedia article is relevant to a wide audience and should not be deleted for the following reasons:
1. Wikipedia itself references the Zoltek website on the their "carbon fiber" page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_fiber
2. Zoltek is a publicly traded company listed on NASDAQ (ZOLT) with many investors
3. Zoltek is one of eight major manufacturers of carbon fiber, many of which have similar pages on wikipedia: Hexcel, SGL Carbon, Toray Industries, Cytec Industries, etc.
If you have any questions about the validity of Zoltek as a legitimate company and its relevance for inclusion into wikipedia, please call John Kowalik directly at 314-291-5110.
Thank you.
- Conflict of interest notwithstanding, the threshold for inclusion on Wikipedia is notability, not existence. If it can be shown from coverage in reliable sources that this is a notable company, then an article (not necessarily this one) would legitimately belong on Wikipedia. --Kinu t/c 20:32, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
- I endorse the CSD:A7 (CORP) because when I went through the article and looked at the claims, all I came up with was unreferenced claims. Hasteur (talk) 03:41, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- WP:CSD#A7 is not applicable. Read what it says: The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source. Therefore I removed the speedy deletion tag. This article is more a candidate for AfD, not CSD. ~Amatulić (talk) 04:02, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
Wikipedia Editors: Hopefully recent changes will suffice and establish the noteworthiness of Zoltek for inclusion in Wikipedia. I've added external sources and cited sources for everything in question. In addition, pages within Wikipedia now link to the Zoltek page (Companies listed in NASDAQ, Companies based in St. Louis, MO, Manufacturing Companies based in Missouri, Companies established in 1988). Please consider removing the "this article has multiple issues" header at the top of the Zoltek page. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnKowalik (talk • contribs) 21:16, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
- At a glance here is some of the issues I have
- Most of the references are still Financial Disclosures
- You have a explicit interest in this article as the phone number listed above has been discovered to be a Zoltek company phone number. Wikipedia policy strongly discourages editors who have a conflict of interest from editing articles they are involved in.
- The article still has very few (or no) other articles that link to it. Click the "What Links Here" to see what is currently linking to the page.
- There are no links in the article that jump to other topics (carbon fiber, wind turbine, etc.)
- Pleas consider the Conflict of interest before editing further as you've now been cautioned twice about the issue and no remedy for the COI has been undertaken
- "Editors with COIs who wish to edit responsibly are strongly encouraged to follow Wikipedia policies and best practices scrupulously. They are also encouraged to disclose their interest on their user pages and also on the talk page of the related article they are editing, and to request others' views, particularly if those edits may be contested."
- Beyond that, the article has improved significantly and I am happy to take the other issues off the notice block. Hasteur (talk) 20:51, 29 October 2010 (UTC)
