Original description of the genus Amerotritte for which Amerotritte lineatus was the type species (in Neoclassical Latin).

Volume 3: 375:

Amerotritte g. n.
Chelarum margo superior dentibus binis separatis, inferior lamina fissidentata instructi. Sternum latum, antice haud attenuatum. Pars labialis longior quam latior, dimidium laminarum multo superans. Pedes antici tibia aculeis inferioribus distalibus 2-2-2, protarso aculeis inferioribus longissimis munitis. Pedes quatuor postici, aculeis apicalibus tibiae et protarsi exceptis, mutici. Tegumenta squamulata. Pedes postici quam pedes 3i paris multo longiores.

Amerotritte g. n.
Cephalothorax high, the pars cephalica smaller than the pars thoracica, sloping forward and very little narrowed, thorax slightly depressed anterad and with a small sulcus situated behind the eyes, strongly sloping behind. Anterior eyes large very unequal to one another and subcontiguous, the tips (apexes) in a recurved line, separated from the margin by the [width] of the sparsely pilose clypeus. Ocular quadrangle much shorter than the pars thoracica, much wider than long and much wider behind than in front. Small eyes of the second row further from the posterior eyes than from the anterior. The superior margin of the chelicerae armed with two separated teeth each, inferior margin fissidentate [with a compound tooth]. Sternum wide, little narrowed in front. Labium longer than wide, greatly exceeding half the [length of] the endites. Tibia of the first pair of legs with distal inferior spines 2-2-2, the protarsus with very long inferior spines. The four posterior legs with tibiae and protarsi unarmed with the exception of the apical spines. Tegument scaly. Fourth pair of legs much longer than the 3rd pair of legs.

Tibias I y II armadas de 2-2-2 espinas.

Amerotritte lineata sp. n.
♀ — 4,4 mm.
Cephalothorax high; cephalic region smaller than the thoracic one, thoracic groove small, shortly behind the posterior eyes. Ocular area much broader than larger, and broader in the back, posterior eyes smaller than the lateral anterior ones, median eyes closer to the lateral anterior eyes than to the posterior ones. Anterior eyes in a recurved row, the medium ones twice as large as the lateral ones. Clypeus hairy, almost non-existant. Chelicerae vertical, parallel, with two separate teeth on the upper edge and lower edge fissidentate. Maxillae broadened in their distal portion (in fact, maxillar lamellae; I do not know whether this is synonymous to maxillae or only to part of them). Labium larger than broader, almost reaching the tip of the maxillae. Sternum broad in the fromt, broader than the labium. Tibia III and IV with two apical spines (tibia IV with an additional posterior spine); metatarsi with two ventral, apical spines. Abdomen oval, short. Spinners terminal; the upper ones larger and more far apart. Tegument covered by fusiform, white scales. Legs IV much longer than III.
Cephalothorax reddish, the eyes within black spots. Chelicerae reddish. Clypeus with a transverse white band. Palpi with long white hairs, very dense. Sternum brown. Labium and maxillae (maxillar lamellae) reddish-brown. Coxae testaceous (brownish-red or brownish-yellow in my Webster dictionary). Legs reddish, with brown and testaceous rings. Abdomen: dorsal part light brown, with three pairs of lines oblique outwards and backwards and with two median, parallel, brown lines; ventral side reddish-yellow.
Type location: Tigre (Guayracé).

Type: no 16.210; M. L. P.

In addition, the following table of leg measurements was included as part of the original description:
