Željko Reiner[edit]

Created by Bbrezic (talk). Nominated by Carabinieri (talk) at 16:15, 18 February 2013 (UTC).

  • The article is sufficiently long and new enough, but the hook and the article contain weasel words (such as "notable physician", "prolific researcher"). Please make sure these are all removed. That said, I suggest an alternative hook:
  • ALT1: ... that Željko Reiner, Croatia's former Minister of Health and Social Welfare, published 543 scientific articles?
  • That is sufficient to show his prolificacy. Surtsicna (talk) 18:14, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
  • I agree that the "notable" in the article is unnecessary. However, I don't agree that "prolific" is a weasel word in this case. ""Weasel words" are statements which appear to assert something but subtly imply something different, opposite or stronger in the way they are made. A common form of weasel wording is through vague attribution, where a statement is dressed with authority with no substantial basis." The way prolific is used here doesn't fit that definition.--Carabinieri (talk) 18:51, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
Assuming that you are correct, I have to admit that it still sounds a bit too overblown to me.
I find ALT2 less pretentious, but I might be wrong, of course. These alternative hooks are just suggestions. The article also contains instances of bad grammar and colloqualisms which I will be happy to correct, but I hope someone else will also check it. Surtsicna (talk) 19:04, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
  • New reviewer needed. There has been some copyediting since the above, so the article should be checked to be sure the issues identified above have been addressed, and the hooks as well. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:40, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
  • The article almost exactly replicates the information given in reference 2. Although it has obviously been translated, comparing the text of the article to a Google translation of the page reveals that the two follow exactly the same pattern:
  • Article: "Reiner was born in Zagreb on 28 May 1953. He attended a Zagreb elementary school and then the Classical Gymnasium in Zagreb. He graduated from the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb in 1976. In 1978 he received his master's degree, and in 1982 doctorate. From 1979 to 1983 he specialized internal medicine at the Sisters of Charity Hospital and at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf in Germany. He obtained his habilitation in Oklahoma City from 1984 to 1985."
  • Translation of ref 2: "Academician Reiner was born in Zagreb in 1953. Mr. where he finished elementary school, Classical High School and 1976. Graduated from the Faculty of Medicine. 1978th Mr. Masters was, and 1982nd Mr. and Ph.D. at the University of Zagreb. He specialized in since 1979. to 1983. Mr. internal medicine at University Hospital "Sisters of Mercy" in Zagreb and the University Hospital Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany. Postdoctoral was in Oklahoma City, USA, since 1984. up to 1985"
  • Serious issues not addressed after a week and a half; closing nomination. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:12, 30 March 2013 (UTC)
