2012 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award
[edit]- ... that golfer Rory McIlroy is the only sportsperson nominated in the 2012 BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award to have not partipicated in either the London 2012 Olympics or the Paralympics?
- Comment: Nominated this as I thought was interesting how all but one nominee have won a gold medal at the London 2012 games.

- Currently only 771 prose. At least 1500 characters prose needed. --Redtigerxyz Talk 18:36, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- I have added some in from other articles, will add more in the following week as I am totally busy until then. Donnie Park (talk) 14:06, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hook appears to be WP:SYNTH, and is not mentioned in the article. The fact from the hook must be taken from the article and it must be cited in the article with an inline citation. Also, the article's lead is a bit messy and must be cleaned up to be fit for DYK. --Odie5533 (talk) 20:28, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
- Since DYK is for new articles, adding in existing material from other articles does not count as new material; indeed, copied material must be expanded five times. There haven't been any edits since December 2; will be notifying nominator that there are issues that need to be addressed. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:43, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- This has been expanded a bit. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:25, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
- While it is now over the 1500 character limit, the problem still remains that the hook is not in the article. I'm also a little concerned about the top 3 paragraphs on the Basis of Nominations section as they do appear to be written in an unencylopedic way and might benefit from some sources. The C of E. - Furthermore, have you done a QPQ? The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 15:53, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- Since this is not a self-nomination, a QPQ is not required, though it is always welcome. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:54, 30 December 2012 (UTC)

- The December 2 expansion was, as noted above and according to its edit summary, "adding some from the other article to get it more DYK worthy", and it added 1301 characters. These were from the main BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award article. Unfortunately, including material from an existing article means that you add a 5x expansion requirement for the pre-existing material: basically, instead of needing to get to 1500 original prose characters for a new article created entirely from scratch, the goal becomes 6505 characters. Since there's no possibility that could be accomplished, and it's been over a month with very little original prose added to the article, I'm marking this one as failing to qualify for DYK.
