  • Well, that took much, much longer than I thought it would. The article is new and neutral enough. The image is obviously public domain. I would like to see more than two sources, but I know how difficult it is to find sources for individual paintings. The "Description" section is copied from a journal which copied it from an 1899 book. That text is old enough to be public domain, so presumably it's okay to copy it. Without that text, the article is just barely over the 1500 prose character threshold. I added a footnote documenting where that text was copied from. I did not find any other copied or too-closely paraphrased text. It would be very helpful to have page numbers for that 30-page reference. I didn't like the crystal-bally wording of the hook "scholars may never be sure" and didn't find that specifically stated in the source (but then, it was 30 pages to wade through, so I might have missed it), so I changed it to "scholars are not sure".
