  • ... that the Mostaert Amsterdam Adoration includes three scenes from the Old Testament, and one from Christian legend?"The grisaille reliefs on the pillar and architrave of the gate depict the foretelling of the birth of Christ in the shape of the dream of Pharaoh’s butler (Genesis 40:9-11), the Tiburtine Sibyl, who prophesied the birth to Emperor Augustus, and against a red background the scene of King David refusing to drink the water that the three ‘mighty men’ had drawn from the well of Bethlehem at great risk of their lives (2 Samuel 23:15-18). On the architrave is the tree of Jesse showing Christ’s descent from David (Isaiah 11:1-12).14" from here. The Tiburtine Sibyl is the legend (Hall, 282)

5x expanded by Johnbod (talk). Self-nominated at 08:14, 19 December 2020 (UTC).

  • Date, length and expansion all OK. Hook is now more clear and AGF based on the book source used. QPQ done. No close paraphrasing, picture licence is fine @Johnbod: although I think if we go by the letter of the law, the crop should be included in the article as well as the full view. @Yoninah:, I think you might well have your Christmas lead image! Good to go. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 08:45, 19 December 2020 (UTC)
