Alois Delug[edit]

Created by Facing the Sky (talk). Self nominated at 19:38, 3 March 2014 (UTC).

  • Article is new, over 2kb characters. QPQ not required, as this seems to be the user's first nomination.[1] I have issues with the hook, in part because I don't like the April Fools Day tradition here, but also because I don't see how Delug missed his chance to "thwart" Hitler. Because he was at odds with Griepenkerl? I need some clarification. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:28, 12 March 2014 (UTC)
  • I just notified the user about resolving the above issues. Mindmatrix 20:41, 23 March 2014 (UTC)
  • It's a triple meaning, the third of which will hopefully lead readers astray: first, Delug was away from the Academy when Hitler applied so he couldn't reject the application and thwart his artistic ambitions; second, if Hitler had been accepted to the Academy, he may not have become involved with the Nazi party and so Delug could be said to have missed a chance to thwart Hitler's genocidal intent; third, it's left unsaid that what was actually directly thwarted was Hitler's artistic ambitions, but I think most readers will, on first reading, take it to be about WW2 and the Holocaust and be intrigued about a 'missed chance'. • Thanks Mindmatrix. I could've sworn I had used the notification template above.
  • I guess I'm satisfied with that explanation? Although I will again say that these April Fools Day hooks can sometimes be overly convoluted. We should probably have an ALT1 if this is not deemed a April 1 hook by The Powers That Be. – Muboshgu (talk) 14:48, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
