Anthony Franchini[edit]

  • ... that Anthony Franchini made more than 3500 phonograph records with Frank Ferera in the 1920s? Source: "Over 3500 sides were to be recorded during this period by Ferera and Franchini plus numerous other recordings made with house bands..." Colton (1961) page 3
    • ALT1:... that Anthony Franchini served in the United States Army for both World Wars prior to obtaining U.S. citizenship? Source: "On June 21, 1917, two months after our entrance into World War I, Anthony Franchini joined the army..." Colton (1961) page 3; "When Pearl Harbor was attacked, Anthony J. Franchini drove seventy six miles from his home in Medford, Massachusetts to Camp Edwards to volunteer.... special waiver was set aside so he could enter service as a Corporal." Colton (1961) page 6; "Franchini, who did not become a naturalized U.S. citizen until 1942..." [1]

  • Article is new enough (moved from draft on 23 October, nominated on 24 October), long enough (9773 characters), neutrally worded, and free from copyright violations (as per Earwig's Copyvio Detector and AGF for offline source). ALT0: hook is interesting (wow thats a productive decade), short enough, formatted correctly, and cited inline; HOWEVER, there seems to a mix up between records and sides (don't records have two sides and therefore 3500 sides could equal 1750 records?). ALT1: hook is interesting (you'd have thought he would have been given citizenship after WW1), short enough, formatted correctly, and cited inline. QPQ is complete and there isn't an image. There's a problem with ALT0 but ALT1 is fine. Now waiting to see what 78.26 wants to do, Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 17:32, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
@Gaia Octavia Agrippa: that's a good point. One of the issues of 1920s releases is that very often, the records issued had different a different artist on each side. So I'm not sure how you'd count "records" exactly. I used the term "records" instead of "sides" because I don't want to confuse the general reader, who already may not understand how differently recorded music was issued 90 years ago as opposed to current practices. Perhaps the following is better:
  • ALT2 ... that guitar duo Franchini and Ferera recorded more than 3500 selections for the phonograph in the 1920s? Source: "Over 3500 sides were to be recorded during this period by Ferera and Franchini plus numerous other recordings made with house bands..." Colton (1961) page 3
Much appreciated, 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 17:59, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
I prefer the wording of the original hook as the focus is on Franchini. Also "selections", to me anyway, doesn't mean much. How about adding an extra word to the first hook as such:
I still like the idea of both hooks, Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 16:17, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
I prefer shorter hooks, but the above combines them, and is 166 characters, which is below the 200 cutoff. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions)
Brilliant idea! ALT4 is formatted correctly, referenced, neutral and short enough. I have struck the other two as this is the best one. Everything is good to go now, Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 17:50, 26 October 2017 (UTC)
