Arrajan[edit]

  • ... that the small Persian town of Arrajan populated by Roman prisoners-of-war of the early 6th century later flourished as a large settlement by the 11th century? Source: "After the Islamic conquest Arraǰān’s development continued. It achieved the peak of its prosperity in the 10th century. ... In general, Arraǰān is depicted as a large and beautiful city." [1]
  • ALT1 ... that the Persian town of Arrajan flourished as a large and beautiful settlement before being destroyed by an earthquake in 1085?

  • This article is new enough and long enough. The hook facts are cited inline, the article is neutral and I detected no copyright issues. Just waiting for the QPQ to be done. Please note that I have changed the century in the hook and article to "11th", and have added ALT1. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 07:41, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the correction. QPQ is being done now. --Z 12:36, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
  • By the way, I want to note that the reason I think the first hook's fact is interesting is that there have been numerous other cities which were populated by prisoners-of-war like this (most famously Weh Antiok Khosrow and Gundishapur), but this one continued to flourish, apparently on its own, after the fall of Persia. --Z 20:45, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
  • Approving the original hook, which is preferred by the nominator. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:44, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
