- ALT1:... that Trudell's spleenwort was named by Edgar T. Wherry for his "favorite field companion"?

- While managing to disregard the fact that these articles were submitted rather late for DYK, I think the hook facts should be mentioned in both articles. They are currently mentioned and cited only in Harry W. Trudell. Other than this, both articles are new enough and long enough and the image is appropriately licensed. I particularly approve the writing style of the fern article for helpfully explaining some of the technical terms used. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:55, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
- The hook fact is now cited in both articles. I prefer ALT1 but either will do. I wasn't disallowing these due to their submission date, I was using my discretion to stretch the rules a bit (I have asked about this previously in the discussion forum). Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:10, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
