- ... that destruction of ancient Assyrian sculpture by ISIS is reported to have increased in late 2016 with the Mosul offensive? Source: Browne, Gareth, "Isis flattened ancient capital after shipping out its treasures" in The Times (London), 19 November 2016 says that the most serious damage to Nimrud was done in late 2016, as the allied forces moved to retake Mosul.
