Bangalore Nagarathnamma
[edit]... that Bangalore Nagarathnamma, promoter of the Thyagaraja Aradhana who earned fame, name and riches as a "consort artist", was the "first female artist to pay income tax"?
5x expanded by Nvvchar (talk), Rosiestep (talk). Nominated by Nvvchar (talk) at 10:37, 9 January 2015 (UTC).
- Checked for expansion, QPQ and copy-vio. I don't think the middle part of the hook (who earned fame ... consort artist) is really needed. However, if you are desperate to retain this, it can be included in quotes. —Vensatry (ping) 09:09, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- There is no desperation involved but only feeling proud about the lady who was able to establish herself in the then male dominated bastion of Carnatic music festival. However. the Consort artist part is already in quotes but an Alt 1 hook suggested deleting the middle part of the above hook.
ALT1 hook ... that Bangalore Nagarathnamma, promoter of the Thyagaraja Aradhana, as a "consort artist" was the "first female artist to pay income tax"? ---Nvvchar. 15:54, 11 January 2015 (UTC)\
- Looks good. I don't think quotes are needed for 'consort artist' or 'first female artist ...' either as both are established facts. All set to go with ALT1. —Vensatry (ping) 16:54, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
- Pulled from queue after issues were raised: Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Bangalore Nagarathnamma in Queue 4. Harrias talk 22:26, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, the spelling error, though unintended, is definitely a gross error. Sorry about it. Thanks to User:Allen3 for correcting it to "concert artist". She lived in Madras and hence the tax issue refers to Madras Presidency in India. The quotation is now attributed to the author of the book referred in the article. A modified ALT2 Hook is proposed now.--Nvvchar. 08:32, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- ALT2 Hook ... that Bangalore Nagarathnamma, promoter of the Thyagaraja Aradhana, was a concert artist who was the first female artist in Madras to pay income tax?
- comment This is destimned for WHMonth at the request of Nvvchar. I will review in next few days if someone doesnt beat me to it. Victuallers (talk) 09:11, 14 February 2015 (UTC)
- ALT3 Hook ... that the feminist Bangalore Nagarathnamma won her campaign to allow both men and women to appear in the Thyagaraja Aradhana festival in Tamil Nadu?
- Alt3 is more WHMonth based Victuallers (talk) 23:03, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
- I have struck out some hooks as she was only the first woman artist in Madras (not the world) to pay tax. Alt2 checks out, but I also offer Alt3 which would need approval. The article is well reffed and is of sufficient length. I didn't spot any close paraphrasing from the refs that I read. Seems neutral to me. No picture in the hook. Thanks Nvvchar for this WHMonth contribution. Victuallers (talk) 23:18, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, @Victuallers:. I did not introduce the img as it is not very clear.--Nvvchar. 02:18, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
