Bigger Hair

[edit]

Created by Bonkers The Clown (talk). Self nominated at 13:29, 24 August 2013 (UTC).

  • Have you gone completely "Bonkers"? I've been a fan of some of your attention-grabbing hooks, and I'm not a fan of political correctness. That said, your proposed hook in this case was drafted to generate maximum "shock" value with its use of the "N" word and the suggestion that there are "auctions" being conducted of African-American hair. This hook risks deeply offending millions of readers, and for nothing more than a cheap snicker. There may well be an "alt" hook that could be approved from the article, but this one, in my opinion, goes way, way too far. Cbl62 (talk) 05:37, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Well... In weak defense, the name was Nigger Hair and it is sold at auctions, according to the sources. Okay, that's bullshit and yes I meant to make it a shocking hook. For a less offensive one, consider ALT1: ... that the smoking tobacco brand Bigger Hair was originally named Nigger Hair? ☯ Bonkers The Clown \(^_^)/ Nonsensical Babble ☯ 12:34, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
  • No matter whether it makes DYK or not, a graphic should be added, you can find many old ads with sketches of the product via google news archive[1] that are a bit astounding to see today.--Milowenthasspoken 16:27, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Alt 1 looks fine. If you want to try to find an image (as suggested by Milowent), leave a note here, and this could be held a couple days before promoting to the prep area. Cbl62 (talk) 17:11, 31 August 2013 (UTC)
