Billionaire Ted[edit]

  • ... that despite being parodied on World Wrestling Federation TV as bumbling hillbilly Billionaire Ted, Ted Turner reportedly found it funny? Source: . Controversy Creates Cash. Simon and Schuster. p. 191. ISBN 141652729X.

  • Good to go for ALT0 on AGF. Article newness (creation from redirect), length, policy compliance, verified. Both hooks verified in terms of their lengths, and hook interest. ALT1 fact could not be verified directly from inline source, no direct quote is available after reading the source. ALT0 on AGF as no link is available. QpQ done. Dr. K. 23:15, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
  • Just to clarify @Dr.K.:, ALT1 is referenced where it says "But over the next six weeks, the vignettes went from funny to malicious" in the ESPN source. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 07:43, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
  • @The C of E: Thank you The C of E. I saw that. The problem is the other segment of ALT1 is missing: caused the USA Network to demand it be stopped due to.... I checked the remaining text and could not make the connection between the two segments. Dr. K. 10:29, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

reopening this per discussion at WT:DYK. Once a suitable hook is agreed it can be re-promoted. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 23:45, 10 June 2019 (UTC)

Reposting the ALT that Lee suggested at WT:DYK here since personally I think it has clearer wording and has a better punch:
ALT2 ... that despite being parodied on World Wrestling Federation TV as Billionaire Ted, competition World Championship Wrestling owner Ted Turner reportedly found the sketches funny?
I think the word "competition" could be reworded to something else, but it seems to address the issues raised about ALT0 (i.e. it's not clear if the "bumbling hillbilly" part is necessary, as well as the hook clarity issues). Personally I didn't have problems with the original hooks, but other editors did and there was a consensus to change it. And I don't get the objection to ALT0 on lacking "punch", ALT2 also shows the contrast and pretty much says the same thing, just without the "bumbling hillbilly" part. I will be on the road on and off during the next few days, so if anyone decides to approve the modified hook, it is fine by me. Dr. K. 17:36, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Good to go with ALT2. Thanks for the ping C of E. By the way, as I mentioned before, I cannot verify all parts of ALT1. Dr. K. 17:42, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
