Bombardment of Salé[edit]

Representation of the bombardment of Salé by Théodore de Gudin

  • ... that hundreds of people in Salé stole goods salvaged from a capsized French ship, leading to the city's bombardment (representation pictured)?

  • ALT1 (which I prefer to the original hook): ... that the bombardment of Salé, causing death and destruction to French warships and a Moroccan city, was prompted by the looting of a small amount of cargo shipped from Gibraltar?

  • Article is new enough, long enough, and well written. Original hook (which I copyedited for conciseness) is verified with offline scholarly refs, accepted AGF. Striking ALT1, as it contains subjective wording ("small amount") not found in article. QPQ performed. Image is public domain, and is a beautiful work of art. I highly recommend that it be used. I linked the article to Wikidata, which already has articles in French (which is a GA) and Arabic. It would be nice if you could do it yourself in the future. Good to go. -Zanhe (talk) 06:59, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
