Bose Ikard[edit]

Created/expanded by Shearonink (talk). Self nom at 23:24, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

  • DYK is supported by text of provided refs, but statement that he was inspiration for characters in Lonesome Dove, as shared in the lede is not itself cited. Suggest this be expanded and sourced in article text before the DYK be approved. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:39, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
See quote in article which is from Page 45 of Wagner's Black Cowboys of the Old West (Ref #8) which states Ikard was the inspiration for Deets. I could also add Wagner's statement that "Danny Glover played Bose Ikard" also on page 45.Shearonink (talk) 00:52, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
As your DYK is based upon the lede, it requires sourcing. You have pointed out just where to find it, and I have now sourced the statement. As it IS the basis for the DYK, it's always good to expand on it within article to give more meat to the reader. Add that statement and ping me. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:02, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Actually, well...I'm confused...so the statement must be separately sourced in the lede when it already has an inline citation within the body of the article itself? (Btw, I have since adjusted the ref you placed from the article body into the lede into the first-mention form of a full cite.) If you could just perhaps explain to me why the additional ref/citation is necessary, I really am sorry but I guess I'm not getting it. I was thinking that the hook itself could be tweaked, replacing "the inspiration" with "an inspiration" so it would read less-definitively..:
ALT HOOK 1: ... that Bose Ikard was an inspiration for the character of Josh Deets in Lonesome Dove? Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 07:06, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
  • With the tweaks to the article, I am satisfied with Alt Hook 1. Article is new enough, long enough, and properly sourced. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:42, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
