Brian Crabtree

  • ... that Kendo Nagasaki once refused to wrestle Big Daddy Shirley Crabtree with his brother Brian Crabtree refereeing? Source: New Society : The Social Science Weekly. Vol. 41-42. 1977. p. 628. ISSN 0028-6729

  • New enough, long enough, QPQ done. Cited. There is an earwig issue, and I'm not thrilled with the hook. --evrik (talk) 02:55, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
  • There is one passage that is an exact copy of the wording from one of the sources, run earwig and you'll see. --evrik (talk) 05:18, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  • @Evrik: You did notice that is a false positive as that particular source is just a big text dump from several wikipedia pages and it doesn't make any sense putting into context? The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 06:53, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I missed that. Can you offer an alternate hook? --evrik (talk) 15:57, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  • It's boring, confusing and not hooky enough. --evrik (talk) 19:51, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
  • OK I can reword it:
  • I think ALT2 is excellent @Evrik: and happy to go with it. Though I would object to the linking as it will draw clicks away from the hook and be close to WP:OLINK in my view. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 21:23, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
  • Well I personally like if secondary articles are linked in the DYK. But I am confused about referring to WP:OLINK, as I fail to see how this is relevant. @The C of E could you explain what you meant there? Though that doesn't mean the names have to be linked, imo that is purely preference either way.
But I actually came here to inquire if ALT2 is broken somewhat? I think it is lacking the "due to" of ALT1; without it, ALT2 doesn't seem to grammatically make sense to me. --LordPeterII (talk) 14:51, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
  • I use OLINK always because if you include unnecessary links in the hook, it takes views away from the main article. If people want to know supplemental info in the hook, they can click on it once they've gone through the article. As for the ALTS, I really don't mind which one is used because they both conform to policy. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 15:03, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
  • Anyone want to approve any of the hooks? I can't approve my own hook. --evrik (talk) 19:58, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
  • ALT2a... that due to Brian Crabtree's closeness with his brothers in professional wrestling, Kendo Nagasaki once refused to wrestle 'Big Daddy' Crabtree with Brian refereeing?
  • @The C of E ah I see, you just meant overlinking in general - I thought it was a specific bulletpoint there. And anyway it's your own DYK submission, so you should decide it. @evrik I went ahead and edited ALT2 to not have wikilinks as per above, and also added back in the "due to" that I believe was missing. As The C of E already approved ALT2, I believe it is good to go? I don't see why this would need a new review. I'd approve the hook, if that helps. --LordPeterII (talk) 22:49, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
  • @LordPeterII:, yes, you can approve Alt2. Alt2a is your version. I happen to like the links which was I asked for clarification. --evrik (talk) 03:03, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
  • @The C of E, may I assume you'd prefer ALT2a? If you do so strongly, I'd refer this back to evrik to approve my hook variant. Otherwise, I'll approve ALT2 (with wikilinks). --LordPeterII (talk) 07:22, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Well, then @evrik would you be fine with approving ALT2a? --LordPeterII (talk) 08:02, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

  • Approving 2a --evrik (talk) 18:48, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
