...why is the first steel cage match anything special? The whole idea of professional wrestling is the constant re-ignition of flagging fan interest with increasingly stupid variations and stunts. Will we also have a DYK on the first "bra-and-panties" match, because it took X years for one of them too? I'm really tired of these silly "firsts". EEng 20:53, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

  • Alt2 is the fact that Mascara Magica lost his mask as a result of the main event, a mask he never wore again. The last part about never wearing it again can easily be added to the aftermath portion as I do have a source for it to support it. I bsically pitched hooks that I know are true and can source even if not in the article currently. Once I get a bead on which hook I will make sure it meets the requirements in the article too.  MPJ-DK  22:55, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
I admit that I think professional wrestling is utterly stupid (and I suspect that, secretly, you do as well -- please don't answer that) but that's not my concern. Look, if a hook said, "Did you know that the first Academy Award for Special Effects was awarded in 1960?" I'd have the same reaction -- well, some year had to be first, so what are you telling me? In this case, as I said, there are apparently literally scores of these stupid match types, and each of them had to debut somewhere, sometime. I think you'll get lots of clicks for a wrestler losing his mascara. EEng 02:57, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
So at this point I am going to go ahead and totally ignore you, Doine, finish, kaput. Not catering to your total lack of a respect. If the hook sits forever without being used then that is still better than bending over backwards to that - not worth it to reinforce such behavior.  MPJ-DK  03:51, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Mine was just one opinion -- others might have a different opinion -- but if that's your decision so be it. I'm sure that as you write other articles you'll come across some with material that makes good hooks. EEng 05:11, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

I have boldly un-struck ALT5 (diff). No reason has been given for its striking, other than a subjective statement of "Because I don't like it at all". No prejudice against re-striking if an objective rationale is provided, such as one based upon the WP:DYKRULES. North America1000 09:17, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
As much as I disagree about what would be a good hook here, I'm bound to say that it's usually been the practice that the nominator's preference for hooks be given great weight. If MPJ doesn't like ALT5, we should respect that (assuming there are other usable hooks). EEng 18:56, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
  • boring "a wrestler lost his mask" I have been told repeately that this is a boring. misleading, he did not lose any make up. Hook is not in the article and would not appear in that form in the article. That is three rules right there that have had hooks pulled from the queues before. Don't really feel like dealing with that again.  MPJ-DK  12:01, 16 September 2016 (UTC)
  • I approved the original hook and am going to repeat that approval. The alternative hooks that MPJ-DK suggested were by way of examples as to what could be used but are largely unacceptable at the moment and I have struck them. This pursuit of "interestingness" is becoming a bit over-zealous, IMO. At this show, CMLL used a steel cage event for the first time, a thing they had previously not done in 68 years of anniversary shows. Seems OK to me. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:11, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
