Chardon High School shooting[edit]

 • ...<s>that Chardon High School teacher Joseph Ricci had a bulletproof vest in his classroom that he wore during the Chardon High School shooting?</s>

 • ALT 1... a student witness to the Chardon High School shooting said her Math teacher, Joseph Ricci, had a bulletproof vest in his classroom that he wore during the crisis?
I think this alternative more accurately describes what was said.--Ishtar456 (talk) 19:13, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
 • ALT 2... <s>that hundreds of Facebook users joined a counter-protested when the WBC announced they would protest the funeral of one of the Chardon High School shooting victims?</s> --Ishtar456

 • Actually I have reviewed dozen of noms. I hope this one gets looked at. I am favoring either ALT 1 or Alt 3. Looking forward to the discussion.--Ishtar456 (talk) 10:54, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
 • It's a sad statement about the state of education in America when a math teacher finds it necessary to have a bulletproof vest in his classroom. I prefer ALT1, but ALT3 and 4 check out.
Hook: All cited, all short enough. Prefer ALT1
Article: New enough, long enough. Well referenced. I think direct quotes are used a bit too heavily; we should preferably cut back on the number of quotes by paraphrasing them. Checks with the duplication detector (1, 2, 3) look okay.
Summary: I'd rather we cut back on the number of direct quotes, Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:43, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
I cut out three quotes in the fatalities section. I do not think that the entire quote from the facebook page should be there, but that was someone else's contribution and I didn't want to be too picky. For what it is worth, it does not count as part of the prose. I really tried to quote only where I felt I needed to be as accurate as possible, avoiding BLP issues. I will work on this more after work. Thanks for looking at this.--Ishtar456 (talk) 11:26, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
 • I love the tweaking that you did. I tweaked some of the tweaks (especially the last paragraph) for accuracy. I want to thank you very much for your efforts. I think it is greatly improved. I took out the long facebook quote (because I am not sure it is relevant) and opened a discussion on the talk page. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.--Ishtar456 (talk) 21:32, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
 • I struck out the two rejected hooks. I think either of the two that are left are important. Your pick.--Ishtar456 (talk) 21:38, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
 • Good to go with ALT1 or ALT3; up to the promoter which seems better. Crisco 1492 (talk) 22:58, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Note to Promoter: This has already been viewed over 70,000 times and has had a lot of IP edits. One tonight was an expression of sympathy for the victims right in the middle of the article. I can keep up with them now, but, could it be semi-protected while on the main page? Thanks.--Ishtar456 (talk) 02:46, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
