College of Arms

[edit]

The College of Arms building on Queen Victoria Street, City of London.

  • Comment: Expanded the article from 28,135 to 100,186 bytes

Created/expanded by Sodacan (talk). Self nom at 19:41, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

  • Checks OK on expansion, length, WP style and sources. Hook fine and interesting, in my opinion. Fine to go. --Smerus (talk) 17:01, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
only hook should read 'has essentially been operating', as College is singular.--Smerus (talk) 17:11, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
Agreed, hook amended, per above suggestion. Sodacan (talk) 17:33, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
Would like to change the hook to the above. The source for this is in Mark Noble's book on the College 'A history of the College of Arms' p.149. Sodacan (talk) 17:14, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Comment: Problem here is that hook is well over 200 characters - I make it 240. Also the source in the article gives the page in Noble as p. 150 (note 27). I suggest you cut out some of the wording, e.g. delete 'by royal charter on 18 July 1555' and 'of England', and replace 'despite the fact that' with 'although'. And tidy up the ref.--Smerus (talk) 20:10, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

This is 204 characters. The ref is correct, there are two refs in that paragraph

(ref 26 or p.149) (for the story) and (ref 27 or p.150) (for the apology afterwards). Sodacan (talk) 03:12, 31 January 2012 (UTC)

Comment - you know the rule about 200 characters is apparently very strict, so I have shortened the hook myself on the principle of WP:SOFIXIT. On that basis, if it's OK with you -
everything checks (see above) - let it be so--Smerus (talk) 18:11, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
No problem seems fine, Thanks! Sodacan (talk) 00:32, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
