Constantine (comics)

[edit]
  • ... that Constantine isn't very popular with DC comics writers?

  • Creation time is good, length (1837 eligible characters) is fine, but I've got some concerns about the rest of this. First, this is an upcoming comic book series, not one that's already begun or is "ongoing". I don't think that's the sort of WP:CRYSTAL problem that would send this to AFD, but it means the tenses and phrasing in much of the article are wrong. There are a lot of things in here that need to be referenced and aren't (including the dated cancellation of Hellblazer, the upcoming writer and artist, the character's appearance in other New 52-era titles, and the upcoming character appearance). Less fatally to DYK, but still awkward, are the incomplete formatting of the references and the disambiguation component of the article's title (which I'm pretty sure should be "comic book" for agreement with similar uses). Setting aside the article for the moment, the proposed hook probably isn't neutral, and is only arguably supported by the references: it didn't make the people interviewed by Newsarama very happy, but Didio and presumably Venditti don't share in the dislike. Full disclosure: this is my first DYK review, so it probably wouldn't be a bad thing if someone wanted to chime in with a second opinion, especially since my debut effort has one of those little X's attached... I've tweaked the refs, and the real time aging is covered in the Hellblazer article- I've adressed your concerns with tenses and refs, and do agree that I was trying to be controversial to make my DYK more interesting, so hope this ALT is more suitable! Revisions noted, so giving this another go. I've made a few minor tweaks to help things along, but nothing which I think makes me a contributor rather than a reviewer.

  • Length remains good (1871). All claims now have appropriate citations, and neither the duplication detector nor I see any issues with close paraphrasing or copyright violations. Tense has been corrected from the original, and I've changed ongoing to upcoming to satisfy my own issues there. Hook is far better this time as well. I assumed the "getting younger" link was intended to point to Constantine (comics) rather than a disambiguation page, so I boldly changed that and bolded it. That might be a little "Easter egg"-ish, and I'll defer to the judgment of others here, but I don't have a problem with it. I briefly considered whether it's accurate to say he's "getting younger" (technically, he's a different character, and the "young" Constantine already exists in JL:D), but it's true as regards the character in his own title, follows from the sources, and is catchy (which is the point of a hook), so I've got no substantive objections there. I still think the correct title for this from a MOS perspective is Constantine (comic book), but that's not a DYK issue, so not going to hold the show up over that either.
