Curt Roberts[edit]

  • Comment: I first expanded the article on March 2nd, though the main expansion was on March 10th, Wikicup nomination.

I'm sorry, even going back to March 2 (which I am loath to do) I do not see a 5X expansion.--Ishtar456 (talk) 18:43, 24 March 2012 (UTC)
  • It's a 5x expansion of readable prose, more than half the article was an infobox and categories. Secret account 02:56, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Actually it's a bit short of the 5x expansion (but not by much) when I checked so nevermind. I was planning to work on the article tonight further, as I couldn't earlier because my time is extremely spotty. Can the article be moved to the April 5th holding day which is baseball opening day if I complete it today or tomorrow? Thanks Secret account 03:21, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
I'm not going to make that call. I don't like bending the rules. It seemed to me that it wasn't really close. I don't have the time to check it again, right now, but as I remember, I had trouble seeing a 2x expansion here. If someone else wants to accommodate you by extending your 5 days, that is up to them. --Ishtar456 (talk) 12:21, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
Since there's some confusion here about the amount of the expansion, it seems that the article was 2698 characters of prose when Secret started expanding it, and it's 7078 now. That's a 2.6x expansion, over ten days. – Muboshgu (talk) 00:33, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • and since it had citations before the expansion, it needs to be 5X--Ishtar456 (talk) 00:48, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • In response to your message to me on my talk page, I do not think you needed to wait for a review to find out that it was too short. I think the expansion is supposed to happen BEFORE the review. And, just because you want it held to the 15th, it should not be that you have until the 15th to expand it. But another review might disagree with me.--Ishtar456 (talk) 08:20, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • As Muboshgu points out quite clearly, the article expanded starting March 10 from 2698 characters on March 4 to 7078 characters on March 13, which barely half of the 5x required. (These numbers are from DYKcheck, which only counts the prose characters, not the infoxbox or other tables.) The BLP exception doesn't apply as the article's subject died in 1969. Expansion rules are inflexible for DYK, the more so when the article is so far from meeting them: the article needed to be almost twice as long as it is now in order to qualify, another 6412 characters of prose. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but it's eleven days too late to bring the article into compliance. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:31, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
