Daniel Dougherty, 1880 Democratic National Convention

[edit]

Daniel Dougherty

  • Reviewed: The Showgrounds (Newry)
  • Comment: 1st article is new, written January 18. 2nd article was 5x expanded on January 15, 16, and 17.

Created/expanded by Coemgenus (talk). Self nominated at 20:23, 18 January 2014 (UTC).

  • Dougherty article is new enough, but the DNC article has not been expanded 5x in the past five days (expansion began on the 15th). However, the Dougherty article is long enough, does not suffer from close paraphrasing, and deals with the subject in a neutral manner. Also, the hook is cited by reliable sources and stated in the Dougherty article. Furthermore, the Dougherty image is free of any copyright restrictions, appears in the article, has rollover text, is relevant article to and the hook, and of reasonable quality and clarity. Therefore, I am proposing an alternate that does not have the DNC article in bold. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 22:46, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
ALT1 ... that Daniel Dougherty (pictured) gave the nominating speech for Winfield Scott Hancock at the 1880 Democratic National Convention, and did the same for Grover Cleveland at the 1888 DNC?
When I listed this at DYK, the expansion had begun in the previous five days. I don't think we're supposed to take the time after that into account, otherwise most articles with 5x expansion wouldn't survive the delays in the review process. --Coemgenus (talk) 23:41, 21 January 2014 (UTC)
Comment: The "5 days" refers to the time period between the start of the expansion (Jan. 15th) and the nomination (Jan. 18th). This was indeed nominated within 5 days. Please restore the bolding. BTW, I've moved the nom template up on T:TDYK to Jan. 15th. --PFHLai (talk) 16:54, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
  • - Confirming that 5x of 1880 Democratic National Convention began on 15 January and article thus meets the DYK inclusion criteria as nomination was made within 3 days. The hook fact is supported inline by an offline source. AGF on that source. NPOV observed. Article using consistent inline citations throughout. As most sources are offline I cannot confirm that there is no close paraphrasing. I'll also AGF of that aspect as well. Based on the previous review of the Daniel Dougherty article by Hirolovesswords I'll AGF those comments and give the DYK my tick of approval. Did a Duplication spotcheck and didn't notice any issues. Thanks, and sorry about listing it under the wrong date. I'd never done a double nom before. --Coemgenus (talk) 21:53, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
