Disappearance of Mollie Tibbetts[edit]

  • Reviewed: Exempt from review (less than 5 DYKs).

Created by Strikerforce (talk). Self-nominated at 21:19, 22 August 2018 (UTC).

  • Drive-by comment: Not saying how much money was offered takes away from the hookiness IMO. It might also be hookier to describe that she was found in a cornfield. I'm sure many readers, like myself, followed this case. Yoninah (talk) 01:30, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
  • We want the reader to click and read the article, do we not? Thus, I would say that including the dollar amount in the hook detracts from its effectiveness. I have edited the ALT1 hook to include the detail about her body being located in a cornfield. StrikerforceTalk 14:29, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
  • OK. Here is a full review:
  • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. I have a question about the reward amount; in the article you say it reached $385,000, but the cited source gives it as $366,000. Please correct this discrepancy. No QPQ needed for nominator with less than 5 DYK credits. One image in article is fair use. Yoninah (talk) 18:09, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Yoninah The amount discrepancy has been addressed. I've seen mentions of $385,000 but the source in the article references $366,000. I will attempt to find a reliable source for the larger amount, but have made the prose match the provided source, for now. StrikerforceTalk 14:22, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Thank you. ALT1 hook refs verified and cited inline. ALT1 good to go. I think this should be promoted ASAP, as it is of high interest in the current news cycle. Yoninah (talk) 18:42, 28 August 2018 (UTC)
