Dorle Soria

[edit]

Created by Reedmanwiki (talk) and Kosboot (talk). Nominated by Kosboot (talk) at 17:20, 17 December 2013 (UTC).

  • The following has been checked in this review by Matty.007
  • QPQ not needed as it isn't a self nomination
  • Article created by Reedmanwiki on 12 December 2013 (just inside 5 day limit), and has 3285 characters of readable prose
  • Every paragraph is sourced
  • Please can we have some section headings? It looks a bit crammed in
  • Earwig @ Toolserver found a phrase identical to the online source: "she went on to write regularly for the magazines high fidelity musical america where she wrote a monthly column called artist life and opera news". Please fix this
  • Hook is interesting and AGF on offline source sourced
  • I can't see why this is in the Christmas section. Am I missing something? Johnbod (talk) 12:56, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
Angel Records? Yes, I know it's a tenuous link, but it has the right ambience. Classical music also has a Christmas connection. Gatoclass (talk) 13:08, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
No, I'm sorry. Does not belong. The idea that a hook talking about the debut of a Jewish conductor is especially appropriate for Christmas does not sit well, nor that classical music is inherently Christmassy (or angels either, for that matter). Finally, the article has an untreated copyvio, and certainly should not be in the special occasion section until it has been approved. Will be moving this back to December 12 where it came from. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:24, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
I didn't say it was "especially appropriate for Christmas", I said it has the right ambience. We don't know for sure how many Christmas hooks we will end up with, we may end up with half a set meaning that filler hooks will be required, and it's important in that circumstance that the filler hooks be at least congruous with the occasion, because sometimes they are anything but. This is the type of filler hook that will blend in well with genuine Christmas hooks which is why I added it to the Christmas section, now goodness knows what filler hooks will end up being selected if we end up with insufficient Christmas hooks to make up a full set. Gatoclass (talk) 16:11, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
This has nothing to do with Christmas whatsoever (and the article subject was Jewish). It just happened to come up at this time. Please avoid conflating it with the holiday. -- kosboot (talk) 19:13, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Suggested corrections have now been incorporated into the article. -- kosboot (talk) 00:55, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Good to go. Thanks, Matty.007 15:02, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
First, this needs a history merge, per User_talk:APerson#AfC_submission_Dorle_Jarmel_Soria. Thanks, Matty.007 16:40, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I've never done a history merge; what's involved? (And I did help expand the article.) -- kosboot (talk) 17:00, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
I had a look at the WP page saying about history merges, and tried to follow that, but we need to wait for it to go through. You seem to have made the page encyclopaedic, so pinging resident expert Mandarax (please can you list Kosboot as a creator?). Thanks, Matty.007 19:04, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
I upgraded Kosboot's credit from nominator to creator. MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 19:49, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
I'm not the creator - I just expanded. Tonight I'll be meeting with a few WP admins, so I can ask them. :) -- kosboot (talk) 19:12, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
You can get a DYK credit for creating or expanding articles: it was created, and you expanded and made it a decent article. Have a Merry Christmas, Matty.007 19:13, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Good to go, AGF on offline references. Matty.007 08:07, 26 December 2013 (UTC)
