Erich Katz[edit]

  • ... that musicologist Erich Katz, a German Jewish refugee who was briefly in Dachau had a long friendship with Carl Orff despite Orff's cooperation with the Nazis?
  • Reviewed: New Jewish Cemetery, Kraków
  • Comment: I sure hope this DYK nomination process is fixed soon. It was really fun trying to figure out how to make this template.
  • For the non-techno-minded among us who are stymied by the fact they can no longer save the page when using the button in the yellow section on the T:TDYK page, I simply created a new page by entering in the "search" field (found at the top of every Wikipedia page): "Template:Did you know nominations/" and added the name of my article after the slash so that it read "Template:Did you know nominations/Erich Katz". This created my template with all the usual reminders of things to check, etc. for nominators and reviewers.

  • No article concerns – new, very well referenced content. I am, however, not sure if the hook is NPOV – Orff's relationship with the Nazi Party is debated. --hydrox (talk) 05:47, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
I know the degree of his cooperation was debated, but I thought the fact of it was not. The juxtaposition of his Katz' friendship with his own past – which he apparently did not talk about because I found only one single reference to his time in hiding and in Dachau, a single letter to a close cousin – was remarkable. How about this then? This is no longer a POV problem because it's stating a fact, that there were rumors about Orff, which there were. Stating the rumors as fact is POV, but not that the rumors existed.
  • ALT1: ... that musicologist Erich Katz, a German Jewish refugee who was briefly in Dachau had a long friendship with Carl Orff, despite rumors about Orff's relationship with the Nazis?

Changing my review to OK. I am leaving the possible POV to the consideration of the admin. I have cross-verified the factuality of their friendship. --hydrox (talk) 08:26, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, hydrox. I have stricken the main hook as being possibly POV, leaving the ALT1, which I believe avoids the issue. Marrante (talk) 11:01, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
