Finnestorp

Belt buckle from Finnestorp
Belt buckle from Finnestorp
  • ... that a belt buckle (pictured) found at Finnestorp might depict Odin? Source: Svenska Dagbladet ("Det skulpterade spännet, som suttit på en svärdsrem, visar hur asaguden Oden offrar sitt ena öga i Mimers brunn" [The sculpted buckle, which has been attached to a sword strap, shows how the god Odin sacrifices one of his eyes in Mímir's well])
    • ALT1: ... that the archaeologist Bengt Nordqvist interprets a Migration Period belt buckle (pictured) found at Finnestorp as a depiction of a mythological scene known from the Old Norse poem Völuspá? Source: Sveriges Radio ("Föremålet berättar en historia som kan kopplas direkt till de nordiska sagorna, och i det här fallet är det vulvans spådom som talar om hur Oden blev en guddom. Det är helt unikt, säger arkeologen Bengt Nordqvist på riksantikvarieämbetet" [The object tells a story that can be connected directly to the Nordic sagas, and in this case it is the prophecy of the völva which tells how Odin became a deity. It is entirely unique, says the archaeologist Bengt Nordqvist of the Swedish National Heritage Board])

  • Long enough, new enough. QPQ done. Passed Earwig's copyvio tool. Paywalled source (for the first hook) accepted per AGF. I prefer ALT1, but I think it would flow better if you said something like "archaeologist Bengt Nordqvist interpreted" rather than "an archaeologist thinks" which makes the identification feel dubious or spurious. I made the change you suggested and a few other minor changes. Ffranc (talk) 10:18, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
