François Blouet de Camilly[edit]

  • ... that François Blouet de Camilly was promoted on 11 May 1704 to the ranks of the Bishop and Comte of Toul but he did not assume his authority until 7 September 1705?

  • Review by Iselilja
  • QPQ not needed since it's not a self-nom
  • New and long enough
  • The first set of sources (Brice Marchand) seems to come from a geneology netsite and not an ordinary reliable source. Do nominator have any comment on this?
  • The hook is not overly interesting and I wonder a bit if it is fully correct stated. According to the source he was "selected" bishop on 1 May and confirmed as bishop on 7 September (then later ordained and installed). So I wonder, if you are promoted when you are selected but not confirmed? And was the timeline here unusual? Maybe a hook related to Jansenism might be more interesting?
  • I was a bit confused by a quote by Saint-Simon, saying "Fin Normand de beaucoup d'esprit et d'adresse" which in translated (in parathesis) to "Fine Norman....". Does the French word "fin" means fine?
  • Other sources are mainly offline; they look to be reliable sources for the most, (none are specifically about the article's subject)
  • Concluding: Iselilja (talk) 20:11, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
    • The ALT1 hook says he "accepted" the . In the French source, it says "il reçut" which I interprete as "he received". I am not a specialist in French; but can you comment on this. Also, I wonder about the source. Is this the original correspondance of Fénelon of 1731? The Saint-Simon quote has not been changed as I can see; an alternative might be to leave it out. ALT2 ... that François Blouet de Camilly was one of the forty bishops who received Unigenitus, the Papal Bull against Jansenism from Pope Clement XI, but he was also the first to retract his support?
The page creator changed changed the translation of "Fin" from late to thin (another translation of the word).   Tentinator   12:17, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
Yes, I see he changed the translation of fin from fine to thin. It would have been an advantage to have the translator himself comment directly on this. And also, while the hook now says that that Blouet de Camilly received the Unigenitus, the article still says he accepted it. The hook and the article must be consistent. And I still wonder whether this information dates back to Fenelon in the 18th century or if it is information by modern historians? I wonder if User:Brokal can comment?
