Frank's Cock[edit]

Created/expanded by Crisco 1492 (talk). Self nominated at 14:41, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

  • All good to go. I agree with your suggestion - this would be spot on for fish day, I think that there's more than one good alt there too! Miyagawa (talk) 20:29, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
  • Thanks for the review! Modified the typography for fish day (a little slight of hand) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:52, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
  • No, no, no. A thousand times no. We are not running a joke site for 14 year old boys. The tradition of April Fools is to trick the unwary, not to throw double entendres around with all the subtlety of a hailstorm. Kevin McE (talk) 23:48, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Strongest possible opposition. I accept the fact that there's consensus to run jokey DYK hooks on April Fools' Day, but now we're making light of a film about someone dying of AIDS? Seriously? I'm stunned that this is even under consideration. I knew that DYK's April foolery had gotten somewhat out of hand in recent years, but I never expected to see it taken this far. —David Levy 02:35, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
About a film about that. Not all comedies can be made into solid AF hooks, sometimes the serious stuff has quirky bits or ways of presenting them. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:39, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
That we "can" do something doesn't mean that we should. —David Levy 03:07, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I agree with that, I hadn't read the article before proposing the alt hook, and after doing so decided to delete it, but I see Crisco has since restored it. Gatoclass (talk) 09:02, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
I had restored it as I saw you removed it without a rationale (and it's quirky indeed. I'll strike it though. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:51, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Seeing is this article is currently a GA, and just passed the FAC, is it ok to wait until April and have a FA in the DYK section? I don't think it's in the spirit of DYK to wait 6 months for an article..."Wikipedia's newest content". Legoktm (talk) 03:11, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
Per T:TDYK and Wikipedia:April Fool's Main Page/Did You Know, holding six months is fine. As to whether this can be TFA in the meantime, that is being discussed at WT:DYK — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:18, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
  • As consensus at WT:DYK is against running this on AF day, here's a more serious suggestion for World AIDS Day:
  • ALT5: ... that Mike Hoolboom insisted on keeping humour in Frank's Cock?
  • ALT6: ... that after finishing with Frank's Cock, Mike Hoolboom became fascinated with the body's impermanence?
  • ALT7: ... that the award-winning AIDS film Frank's Cock is split into quadrants to symbolise the "fragmentation of the body" experienced by those with the disease?
  • ALT7a: ... that the award-winning film Frank's Cock is split into quadrants to symbolise the "fragmentation of the body" experienced by those with AIDS? MANdARAX  XAЯAbИAM 00:20, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
  • 7A looks better, crossing 7 — Crisco 1492 (talk) 10:30, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
Any thoughts? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:11, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
    • I've also moved this back to T:TDYK. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 23:18, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Since all previously approved hooks have been struck, approval has been temporarily withdrawn. This needs its new hooks reviewed before approval can be restored. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:00, 17 November 2012 (UTC)
  • All hooks are cited in the article. ALT8 however intimates that the movie was made up of only "gay pornography, "The Miracle of Life", and "Erotica"", which is not the case. I would go with any of the others. Yazan (talk) 17:16, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Reiterating Yazan's tick so this shows up as approved on the lists. Striking ALT8 as it was not approved. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:06, 18 November 2012 (UTC)
  • Alright, thanks for the review! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:30, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
