G.U.Y.[edit]

  • ALT1:..... that the music video for Lady Gaga's song "G.U.Y." is nearly twelve minutes long?

Improved to Good Article status by XXSNUGGUMSXX (talk). Self nominated at 19:10, 30 June 2014 (UTC).

  • Review of ALT1: The article was promoted to GA class on the 27th of this month, its prose section surpasses 1,500 characters, it is written in a neutral and unbiased tone, while citing reliable/reputable sources and being devoid of copyvios and other problematic points. Regarding the hook: while it isn't particularly attention-grabbing, it is interesting and readers may want to know why it has that length and what happens in it; it isn't sourced by an external link however Wikipedia film plot guidelines apply to music video synopsis, therefore a source isn't required. QPQ isn't needed as XXSNUGGUMSXX has less than five DYK credits. Good to go. pedro | talk 20:32, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Sorry! ALT1. pedro | talk 20:44, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

  • I've removed this hook from prep because while the video is technically about 12 minutes long, roughly a third is taken up by credits so I think the hook is a bit misleading. Also, there been a bit of a debate at WT:DYK as to whether or not a cite for the hook statement is required. Gatoclass (talk) 08:52, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
"Spanish guitar, AND INTRODUCING acoustic guitar!"
I have to be honest - this isn't really what I'd describe as a particularly grabbing hook. Isn't the original video for "Black or White" longer (and more historically significant), not to mention Echoes (23 minutes), Thick as a Brick (46), Tubular Bells (48). The hook should explain something unusual or significant about the video, which the time alone really doesn't. Sorry. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 09:56, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
There were videos for those three?? Didn't even know Lad-Gag had covered them! Martinevans123 (talk) 10:16, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
I would pay good money to watch Lady Gaga cover Thick as a Brick, particularly the line "there are black-heads on his shoulders and he pees himself in the night". Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:18, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Think the other two might be more of a challenge. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:20, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Anyway, to be more constructive - ALT2 ... that the video for Lady Gaga's "G.U.Y." was shot at Hearst Castle? Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:28, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

The hook is sourced and interesting; my article review applies again (written in a neutral tone, no copyvios or problematic points, sourced by RSs, etc; readable prose size is met, surpassing 1500 characters). I'm confused whether the ALT2 will be credited to Ritchie or Snuggums, though. pedro | talk 11:17, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Yes, Snuggums. I don't know a gaga from a gugu. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:22, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Good to go, then, considering that he doesn't need a QPQ review. pedro | talk 15:43, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
