Gabriel Ripstein
[edit]... that two works produced by Mexican filmmaker Gabriel Ripstein competed for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival?

- Note: I changed "director" to "filmmaker" in the hook – according to the filmography section he has only directed one film so it would be an odd primary descriptor to give him. 97198 (talk) 05:29, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

- New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. I went through the article with an eye to English grammar – please note that we say "starring (actor's name)" rather than "starred by (actor's name)". QPQ done. I don't find the hook so hooky, especially because no dates are given and the competitions were 16 years apart. What do you think about a hook mentioning his work with his parents? Or might you have something else in mind? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 21:00, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- ALT1 ... that the first film produced by Gabriel Ripstein was directed by his father and written by his mother? Javier Espinoza (talk) 01:21, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Jaespinoza: Thanks, I like that a lot. But the source only mentions his father. Do you have a cite for his mother as screenwriter? Yoninah (talk) 16:55, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: Fixed. Javier Espinoza (talk) 21:27, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Jaespinoza: shouldn't the cite go after the hook fact in this sentence: The same-titled film was directed by his father, Arturo Ripstein, with a screenplay written by his mother, Paz Alicia Garciadiego, and starred Mexican actors Fernando Luján and Salma Hayek, and Spanish actress Marisa Paredes? Yoninah (talk) 21:56, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: Fixed. Javier Espinoza (talk) 23:48, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Jaespinoza: I'm sorry; am I missing something? Footnote 2 just says he's the son of Arturo and Paz Alicia. Footnote 5 just says his father directed the film. Do you have a source that says his mother wrote the screenplay? Yoninah (talk) 08:39, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- @Yoninah: I added a ref with a lenghty article about Garciadiego's adaptation. Javier Espinoza (talk) 17:21, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
Perfect. Thank you. Spanish-language hook ref AGF (I can verify it with Google Translate) and cited inline. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 17:28, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
