Gaston Cros[edit]

Gaston Cros from his pre-1914 carte de visite

  • ... that during the First World War former archaeologist Colonel Gaston Cros (pictured) said that "instead of artefacts ... I find German shells, it is not without excitement"?

  • Length and date OK. Checked for copy vio. Hook quote translation is AGF. Img is not with free license. Good to go without img.--Nvvchar. 23:53, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
The image is free to use on the English Wikipedia where the image only has to be in the public domain in the USA (where the servers are hosted). It doesn't meet the more stringent Commons requirements that need it to be in the public domain in the host country as well. I am not sure whether the DYK requirements require an image to be hosted on Commons or just to be free to use on Wikipedia (ie not fair-use) - Dumelow (talk) 15:43, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
