  • I suggest 'US Colonel' and 'American military'. While popular in North America, technically American in many parts of the world, especially in Latin America, simply refers to any country in the Americas: North or South America. The hook is too close to the original source, "His decorations are among the highest and most rarely bestowed on US military personnel". To avoid copy editing problems the hook should be rephrased. Source, creation date, and article length appear to be fine. A very handsome article. The hook simply needs some copy editing with clarification. Mkdwtalk 05:25, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
  • ALT1 ... that having fought three wars and served for over three decades, the medals awarded to U.S. Colonel George Juskalian (pictured) are deemed among the highest and rarest of any U.S. soldier?
  • The sentence in the main article must also be changed to avoid copy edit issues. Something about the ALT1 grammar seems awkward. You were right in that the original phrase order would be the most grammatically appealing. I think the below hook is fairly close to your original intention while still avoiding direct copy edit problems. It's a bit awkward also, but probably acceptable. Mkdwtalk 19:18, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
  • ALT2 ...that U.S. Army Colonel George Juskalian (pictured) was one of the most highly decorated and whose honors are amongst the most rare of all American military personnel?
  • ALT2.1 ... that George Juskalian (pictured) is considered one of the most highly decorated U.S. soldiers whose honors are amongst the rarest given to any U.S. military personnel?
  • Accepted ALT2.1. Photo rights logged through OTRS, and looks good too. Mkdwtalk 21:18, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
  • The articles does not clarify what is "rare". He doesn't even have the DSC or MOH. PumpkinSky talk 15:43, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Rare would be attaining medals for three different wars and various other campaigns during a span of more than a three decades worth of a military career. That is rare in itself since not too many have accomplished such a feat, let alone attain medals from them. Proudbolsahye (talk) 16:05, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
  • That's not what the hook says, it says the honors are rare, not the pattern they were earned in.PumpkinSky talk 20:02, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Okay, how about I clarify it in the article so that the readers may understand the rarity of the medals.Proudbolsahye (talk) 20:10, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
  • OK, that'd make it much clearer. Most people don't know about these things. PumpkinSky talk 01:36, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

  • ALT3 ... that George Juskalian (pictured) had honors that are amongst the highest given to any U.S. military personnel?

The rarity of the medals have been confirmed in the TP of the article. Proudbolsahye (talk) 04:22, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

The rarity of the medals has indeed been commented on. Whether they are actually "among(st) the rarest" is not established, and comment at WP:RSN from those not directly involved here are in the majority not disposed towards taking the word of a local newspaper on the matter. I don't think anyone would object to them being described as "among the highest" honours, so why not go with that? Kevin McE (talk) 09:09, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
ALT3 has been revised in accordance to recent agreement. Proudbolsahye (talk) 09:55, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
