George Wood (baseball)[edit]

  • ... that George Wood (pictured) played baseball against a Cuban team in 1878, in a racially integrated game in 1880, and in Egypt the late 1880s?

Created/expanded by Cbl62 (talk). Self nominated at 04:12, 10 June 2014 (UTC).

  • Issue: not new enough. The recent expansion started from 1921 characters as of 5 June, and reached 6220 characters by nomination date 10 June. However it needs to be 9605 characters to qualify. Note the character-count applies to readable prose only, and does not include infobox, or any material below the See also subheading. So before I can review this nom you need to add about half as much prose again. This nom could possibly be rescued, so please let us know whether you wish to continue to expand the text. --Storye book (talk) 16:01, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
Sorry about that. I nom'd this in a rush before leaving for vacation and overlooked the fact that it had not been expanded sufficiently. Please deem this withdrawn. Cbl62 (talk) 23:09, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
  • @ Cbl62. I'm sad to hear that, because I'm happy to attempt to rescue noms where possible. Please note that some nominators are taking up to a month (sometimes even more) to bring their nominated article up to DYK standard. Please ping me if you had not realised this, and would now like to take this opportunity. --Storye book (talk) 10:16, 1 July 2014 (UTC)
