George of Izla, Gabriel of Sinjar

[edit]

Created by Kathovo (talk). Self nominated at 14:04, 13 August 2013 (UTC).

  • George of Izla review: New enough (moved from sandbox to main space on Aug. 13), long enough (2,000+ characters, NPOV, cites references, and no close paraphrasing found in check of 5 sentences. My only problem is that the article only really relies on a single source. Guideline D12 suggests multiple sources is important. There seem to be additional sources that could add some crucial details (like that he appears to have taken a second wife here).
Gabriel of Sinjar review: New enough (moved from sandbox to main space on Aug. 13), long enough (1700+ characters, NPOV, cites references, and no close paraphrasing found in check of 4 sentences. Note, Romeny is listed as a reference but doesn't appear to be used anywhere. Also some claims appear to go beyond the sourcing. For example, "Together they tried to replace Dyophysitism (Church of the East) with Miaphysitism as the official form of Christianity in the Persian empire." The source clearly shows that Shirin did this and that she converted to Syriac Christianity because of Gabriel, but it doesn't suggest that the queen pushed the Miaphysitism together with Gabriel.
QPQ- Editor's 3rd and 4th nominations. So, no QPQ necessary.
Hook- Hook is good. short enough and interesting. I changed 'Disputation' to the shorter 'debate'. Conversely, you can change it back to 'disputation', but it should be wikified.
To Pass: Add some additional sources to the George of Izla article and do a double-check/rewrite of the Gabriel of Sinjar article to make sure that it does not stray to far from the sources and the DYK should be good to go. AbstractIllusions (talk) 19:13, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
added new references to Goerge of Izla as suggested. Morony looks prevalent because he only cites anecdotes of George's vita.
I also rewarded the sentence in question in Gabriel's article and added a ref from ter Haar Romney's article. Most sources call it a 'disputation' but I'm fine with 'debate'.--Kathovo talk 10:59, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Hook fact is supported in sources and articles check out. AbstractIllusions (talk) 13:07, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
