  • Struck ALT1. The crimes in question were not all committed by "German soldiers" (ie the Heer); crimes were also committed by the SS, the Luftwaffe and the Kriegsmarine. Moreover, even the title of the article is highly misleading, as many of the crimes in question were committed by the Italians and not Germans. (And most by both.) The sources for the article's claim of "5,300 individual instances of war crimes comitted [sic] by Nazi Germany." explicitly note Italian involvement. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 03:33, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
@Hawkeye7: In regards to the article title and the questions you have raised, it is a valid point but probably best discussed on the article's talk page, I think. As far as article name Nazi war crimes in Italy, which would match Category:Nazi war crimes in Italy and most other related ones, would probably be quite sufficient as the WWII is kind of redundant. As far as the hook goes I proposed an alt3, similar to alt2, but might address your concern. Turismond (talk) 05:59, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
    ALT3 approved. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 06:39, 29 August 2018 (UTC)
  • @Hawkeye7: I am not sure it is appropriate to include the word "Nazi". To me it implies that all the soldiers who committed war crimes were Nazis, ie. members of the Nazi party or at least subscribers of Nazi ideology. Proposing another ALT: Catrìona (talk) 03:05, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT4... that German soldiers and their Italian allies committed more than 5,000 war crimes in Italy during World War II?
Approved. I personally dislike the term "Nazi Germany" and never use it in articles. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 19:55, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
