Ghabaghib

[edit]

Created/expanded by Al Ameer son (talk), Zozo2kx (talk), Huldra (talk). Nominated by Al Ameer son (talk) at 02:54, 1 October 2012 (UTC)

  • Created on 25 September and nominated on 1 Oct: the 5 day old rule is violated. No inline citation for hajj sentence. 1913KB: prose size met.--Redtigerxyz Talk 17:36, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
  • I added the inline citation for the hajj sentence. As for the late nomination, I was aware that it was officially too late and I could only request that you cut me some slack since it was just a few hours past the deadline. --Al Ameer son (talk) 05:01, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Selim I is not stated in the ref. Ref only says Sultan Selim. can be Salem I, II or III. Also, the ref does not explicitly say it a hajj pilgrimage. It calls the leader Emir hajj and the destination Kubbetu-l-hajj, but I could not find a RS by a Google search that they implies a Hajj. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:55, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Sultan Selim is widely used to refer to Selim I (since he's the first). The text is explicitly talking about Muslim pilgrims. Emir al-Hajj is the head of the caravan that goes every year from Damascus to Mecca. Qubbat al-Haj is a place near Damascus (well before Ghabaghib) where the caravan and the pilgrims assemble before setting out on their pilgrimage. It's not the destination. • Nomination needs a new reviewer. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:35, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
  • No offence meant, but previous experience indicates a thorough check of paraphrasing will be necessary. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:27, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
  • None taken. Feel free to check, most of the sources are books in the public domain so it should be easy. Yazan (talk) 15:58, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

New enough, long enough, neutral, well-sourced, hook is sourced, AGF on Hütteroth and Abdulfattah source, used for a short factual statement, all other sources check with no copyvio, good to go. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:08, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Ref 5 Hütteroth and Abdulfattah is not used as the inline reference for the sentence. Ref 7 Newbold, 1846, p. 337 is. --Redtigerxyz Talk 17:49, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
  • I read the source as validating the hook. It is a bit muddled, but seems to describe the route taken by the hajj pilgrims from Damascus as being via Kusweh, Dhul Nun, Sanamein, Tel Fir'aun to Ghabaghib, where the tower is. I don't think there is any doubt it is Selim I. There is more than one "hajj route" so ALT1 may be slightly more accurate:
  • Where is the bibliographic entry associated with ref 9? BlueMoonset (talk) 20:54, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
Struck out original hook, re-ticking for ALT1 - there do not seem to be any outstanding issues, Aymatth2 (talk) 22:44, 1 November 2012 (UTC)
