Giant Days

[edit]
  • ... that Giant Days was published by BOOM! Box after writer John Allison saved a BOOM! editor from falling? "I had met Shannon [Watters] from BOOM! at a couple of cons, and I remember one event where she was on crutches, and she almost fell over and I caught her. [...] I figured I had some sway now that I had caught her, so I thought, I’ll have a go at pitching this." link
    • ALT1:... that Giant Days started as writer John Allison's backup plan in case his other comic Bad Machinery failed, but now runs alongside it? "Early in Bad Machinery’s run, I had a little crisis of confidence and worked on some other projects that could possibly replace it. That wobble soon passed, but I liked the Giant Days set-up, and I drew an issue’s worth of material in 2011 with a view to pitching the series, though nothing came of it. I set it aside, but the characters niggled at me – I knew they were good. In 2013 I drew another two issues, then pitched it to Boom! Studios." link
    • ALT2:... that Giant Days has evolved from webcomic to self-published small press comic to miniseries to ongoing series? "First I just put them up on the website, and then I made three floppies." link 1 "After the sixth issue, when the book became an ongoing series, Treiman turned the art duties over to a new artist, Max Sarin (though she stayed on to illustrate the covers)." link 2
