The hook was removed from the preparation area 4. Someone found it inaccurate, so it needs another thorough review. --George Ho (talk) 14:38, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Rather than a review, an ALT hook needs to be created because the original one is factually incorrect (one of the trails listed is not a trail), and the article needs to be updated so it is also correct. Once those have been done, a review would be in order, but not until. Have struck the problematic hook. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:51, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that the Gibraltar Rock is located at 170 kilometres (110 mi) south of Perth, Western Australia?
ALT2: ... that people climb up a 2,100 ft (640 m) tall Gibraltar Rock, located at 170 kilometres (110 mi) south of Perth, Western Australia?
I hope these hooks are better. --George Ho (talk) 22:51, 5 November 2012 (UTC)
- Actually both are quite uninteresting: located near Perth? Climb up a tall rock? (I doubt this is even true: the peak of Gibraltar Rock may be 2100 feet above sea level, but I doubt it's 2100 feet above the surrounding terrain.) Is there nothing interesting about this particular rock? I must also note that the inaccuracy in the article that caused it to be pulled from prep in the first place has not been fixed after a full week. That's not encouraging. I've also seen a source that seems to indicate that it isn't just Devil's Slide in the area that's taller than the Rock. BlueMoonset (talk) 01:16, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
- Inaccuracies remain uncorrected and unaddressed after two and a half weeks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:17, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- What inaccuracies? I re-checked that source at it says that it is 2,100 feet high. Heights are always given as above sea level; I've never seen a map with a relative spot height. The confusion between trails and routes has been corrected. Hawkeye7 (talk) 20:28, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
- This article was pulled from the queue because the hook was incorrect, King Alfred's Castle isn't a trail but a nearby rock group. This still hasn't been adressed in the article. There may be other inaccuracies, but the one that got this rejected in the first place is still there... Fram (talk) 17:19, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

- And I'm quite serious about the ALT hooks: uninteresting and not well worded (which was my primary point about the 2100 foot note). They simply don't pass muster. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:34, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
ALT3: ... that climbing routes on Gibraltar Rock include Crime of Passion, Illusions of Grandeur, and Rooster Carnage?
- New review needed now that an more interesting hook, ALT3, has been supplied, and the specified issues with the article have been addressed. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:12, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry, but it's clear that no one bothered to check my point that "it isn't just Devil's Slide in the area that's taller than the Rock". I've just done so, and it turns out that sources 4 and 6 both put Nancy's Peak as taller than Gibraltar Rock (the former source says 2,145 feet and the latter 2,140, both of which are greater elevation than Gibraltar Rock's 2,100; the 2,100 number is from same source 6 list that also gives the elevation for Devil's Slide and Nancy's Peak, all in the same sentence). In addition, I've pulled out clearly duplicate sources (as in two footnotes going to the same original page), and leave it to the authors as to what they want to do with the second sentence of the Features section in the article, so long as it's edited to accurately reflect the source facts. - Reviewer needed recheck that the article is ready. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:45, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
- The sourcing for this article is so threadbare I have to wonder whether it would not be more appropriate to have a single article on the Porongurups Range, rather than a series of articles on the individual peaks. I might ask for an opinion at Wikiproject Australia. Gatoclass (talk) 13:41, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- I very much doubt that the authors would be interested in converting the article or pursuing the Porungurups: this was part of a series of "Gibraltar" articles that, although sharing a name with the original Gibraltar, had nothing to do with it or Gibraltarpedia and thus could serve as a nice poke in the eye to the people trying to ban Gibraltar hooks from the DYK section of the main page for up to a year. Obviously, if the article is merged or converted into a Porungurups article, its DYK submission needs to be reevaluated given the new material, and I see you've asked for that opinion at the WikiProject. But if there's no one to make such changes to the article, then it needs to be evaluated as it is now. BlueMoonset (talk) 15:06, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
