Gran Alternativa 2016[edit]

  • Reviewed: Star Trek: Phaser Strike
  • Comment: This was legitimately Golden Magic's first match for the company, pretty rate to make a debut in a major annual tournament.

Interesting, detailed article, on good source, love the diagrams and tables (but didn't check every entry there). Spanish sources accepted AGF. Please unbundle the references, not four at the end of one paragraph, better for individual facts. Please have one at the end of each paragraph. - Hook: how about this:
ALT1: ... that the 2016 Gran Alternativa wrestling tournament marked the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre debut of Golden Magic? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:34, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
  • @Gerda Arendt: - I am good with ALT1, thank you. And I tried to spread out the sources better, found one that was dead while doing that so I eliminated that one. Better?  MPJ-US  21:33, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
Better spread out, yes, thank you. There are still three paragraphs without one at the end, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:14, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
D'oh such a rookie mistake. I have addressed those concerns.  MPJ-US  22:42, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

  • I have pulled this from p4 as the source citation for the hook is a deadlink. Gatoclass (talk) 04:00, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
  • @Gatoclass: - dang that died fast, I replaced it with a link to a source that the pro wrestling project considers reliable for match results - showing that Golden Magic did not wrestle for CMLL until that day. Hope that covers it? Good catch in the link.  MPJ-US  04:46, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
  • @Gatoclass: source has been addressed. Good to go back in the queue?  MPJ-US  14:24, 6 May 2016 (UTC)
Well it says Golden Magic competed in something called the "Battle Royal" before the Gran Alternativa. The article says the battle royal was some sort of qualifying tournament for the Gran Alternativa but I was unable to verify that from the source. Gatoclass (talk) 08:59, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
The battle royal was for the eight rookies, used to pair up the teams for the tag team portion. They did not "qualify" as no one was kicked out of the tournament, it is part of the tournament format. And the battle royal being part of the tournament is sourced in another part of the tournament.  MPJ-US  10:02, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Okay, show me the source which says the battle royal was part of the Gran Alternativa tournament. Gatoclass (talk) 13:12, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
  • @Gatoclass: - So in this source [1], used for the other block specifically states that the rookies competed in the match to determine the pairings for the main part of the tournament.

"Los encuentros se definieron a través de un “torneo cibernético” en donde se enfrentaron únicamente los ocho luchadores noveles, quedando de la siguiente manera" = The meetings were defined through a "cyber tournament" where they faced only eight novice fighters, being as follows:"

Which shows that for the 2016 tournament the battle royal is part of the tournament, after all why would block B just have a random match with all the rookies and it not be a part when Block A had it?.  MPJ-US  13:30, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

I looked at that source. It doesn't mention a "battle royal". Gatoclass (talk) 14:14, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
  • @Gatoclass: - Found an article on the Mexican sports website Esto that discusses Golden Magic making his CMLL debut as part of the Gran Alternativa tournament. Added the source to the hook in the article. I trust that an entire article dedicated to the hook from a reliable source satisfies the DYK requirement now?  MPJ-US  19:32, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
