Gregorio Jiménez de la Cruz[edit]

Created by DaltonCastle (talk). Self nominated at 02:17, 12 November 2014 (UTC).

Length verified. History is a little inaccurate—it is nominated under November 11, but history shows it was created November 7 and I cannot find any record of a move to mainspace in the logs. Whatever; at this point it's not important. I much prefer ALT1 and have reworded to be less awkward. Reference given (note 6) only says that activists have called for the state governor to resign without explaining why (footnote 5, or another note that clarifies this better. The article uses way too many quotes and should have more paraphrasing. Stating "according to [x newspaper]" is also unnecessary; readers can check the source for that. I also recommend breaking up the Murder section because it's way too big. ComputerJA () 05:39, 24 December 2014 (UTC)
It has been over a week since this comment was made; neither the nominator nor anyone else has done any work on the article for ten days before that. I think that's more than long enough for us to wait, and I recommend the plug be considered pulled on this one. Daniel Case (talk) 19:49, 1 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Daniel Case, the nominator made a series of edits to the article about 30 hours after you posted the above. Given that it was the holidays, perhaps a few extra days to respond are allowable. Have your issues, and those mentioned by ComputerJA, been satisfactorily addressed? BlueMoonset (talk) 01:38, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
  • My concerns have not been addressed entirely. ComputerJA () 03:18, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
  • Thank you for the improvements, DaltonCastle. But there are still a few things left.
(1) El Pais noted that Jiménez's murder — You can paraphrase that and the rest of the sentence in your own words.
(2) a man of humble origin — You can paraphrase this too and shorten the rhetoric a bit.
(3) that she believed the bar owner had ordered — This and the rest can be paraphrased too.
(4) 20,000 pesos — Please put the USD equivalent and link pesos.
(5) The quotes in the Reaction section and be paraphrased too. Remember that quotes are recommended specifically for things that are better said as it is. WP:QUOTE
(6) A Spanish newspaper stated that Jiménez's murder — Why is this part of the Aftermath? The rest of the sentence gives a background on attacks on the press in Mexico and has nothing to do with the aftermath of Goyo's death.
(7) The last source is missing the date and the editor.
Thank you for your patience and work on this article. You've done it great job so far. Goyo's article was one of the hardest ones in the List of journalists killed in Mexico, and the article is informative. Send me a message when you think you're done so I can take a look at it. Cheers. ComputerJA () 08:33, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
  • I have looked at the article again and found that the source given at footnote 4, which also supports the hook, suffices to address my concern (Yes, it's in Spanish, but I can read enough of it to make that out). Daniel Case (talk) 21:08, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
I believe I've addressed all the issues. Let me know if there's anything else I can do. DaltonCastle (talk) 19:31, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
Good to go. All issues have been addressed accordingly. ComputerJA () 23:06, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
