  • ... that Gustave Lambert (pictured) was killed in the Siege of Paris before he could set sail for the North Pole?

  • This article is new enough, long enough, and is sourced with verifiable references that are appropriately internally-cited. The hook is also verified (using Google translate). DYK has been completed, and the image is in the Public Domain. -- West Virginian (talk) 01:22, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but the hook is one of several "he died before he reached his goal" hooks presently on the noms page. This is a long article; could you suggest another hook? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 20:18, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: ALT1 below is covered by the same citation. Aymatth2 (talk) 21:28, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT1 ... that the French legislature voted to fund Gustave Lambert (pictured) to sail to the North Pole?
I don't like ALT2 so much because it loses the idea that Lambert was going to sail to the North Pole, the ice around the pole being melted by the perpetual sunshine during the summer. Aymatth2 (talk) 23:13, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
  • @Aymatth2: No problem. Is there an inline cite for the ALT1 hook fact? Yoninah (talk) 23:45, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
Yes, same as the inline cite for the original hook.
